Friday Fun

Posted on September 19, 2014 by Loni Townsend

With all of the commotion going on at the Town’s End lately, I haven’t been taking much in the way of pretty photos. So you get some fun ones instead.

I wanted to participate in the shelfie hop that I’ve seen on a few blogs. But due to the combination of me being strapped for cash 13 years ago, and my mother-in-law ridding her house of several books without telling her children, my husband and I don’t have a very impressive physical bookshelf. I thought about taking a picture of my sis-in-law’s bookshelf, but figured that’d be cheating. I mentioned to Elizabeth Seckman that my collection was primarily digital, and she said to use that. M.J. Fifield posted shelfies taken of her kindle, and that inspired me.

Here is my shelfie!

Shelfie

Like my blue hair? Some of the covers aren’t visible because they came from Smashwords.

Among other news, my son turned 1 year old yesterday! I bought him a small birthday cake, because I have no skills in the baking/decorating department.
Cake

He’s not keen on frosting, but he did like the fluffy, chocolate parts. My daughter was more than happy to help him by eating half of it.

Last tidbit for today, my state ranks #1 on the rudest driver’s scale! Unfortunately, when viewed in the light of slow-driving being the major issue, I’m not surprised. I’ve had this discussion with my co-worker before, because he’s one of those who drives 5 under. He’s figures there’s no reason to rush because it’s only makes a few minutes impact in his arrival time. I pointed out how inconsiderate it was to everyone behind him. He shrugged. I rolled my eyes. I couldn’t help but share the report with him when it came out.

Have you taken a shelfie yet? Are you celebrating any birthdays lately? Is your state on the rude driver scale?

Most of my reading is done on my Kindle these days but I do still have two shelves for my physical books, so I’ll get around to taking my shelfie eventually. And I live in Massachusetts, so I was not surprised at all to find my state on that list…I don’t think I’m a “masshole,” but other people’s lousy driving does drive me nuts.

    Love the pics! So cute!

I was inspirational?! What a lovely book shelf you have. I still have to post my shelfie.

Happy first birthday to your little guy. Such a great age (to watch from afar), so enjoy!

What a fantastic cake! I’m relieved to hear that you didn’t make it yourself, or I’d have to be jealous. ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy birthday to your little one!

Happy Birthday to you little one! So cute. I’m glad to hear your daughter was willing to help out. Posting a digital bookshelf is a great idea.

I looked at that driving scale and I like how they show which state hates the other state’s driving the most. Driving, in general, has become ruder over the years. Driving slow is okay, as long as they are in the slow lane and driving well – as in not weaving, texting, etc.

You have slow drivers where you live? I’m moving there. If the roads are clogged here, nobody drives under 75. True.

    Loved the cake. Great personality.

Great books photo — hmmm, I think I recognize one toward the bottom right quadrant…

SoCal should be on that rude drivers list if it isn’t already. Holy cow. It’s like Mad Max every day out on these roads.

    Adorable photos of the munchkins!

That is the CUTEST cake! I love it. I haven’t done a shelfie–but I don’t have a bookshelf, unfortunately. My bookshelf is on my Kindle.

Happy birthday to your little guy! The cake was so cute. My son would definitely help with the frosting eating too! ๐Ÿ™‚ Great digital Shelfie. I’m amongst good company there. ๐Ÿ™‚ I see you have Shadow Warrior on there too, and that’s the one I’m reading right now.

Great idea to take snapshots from your Kindle. I could have done that with my books that I have on there. ๐Ÿ˜›
