Featured Photo Friday

Posted on May 16, 2014May 16, 2014 by Loni Townsend

I’ve been holding onto this one for a while. I know many of you will like it. It was an opportune shot on a stormy afternoon at a church just up the block from me. I’d taken it around the same time as the wet chain featured photo. It has a drama filter applied, and because these two are fairly similar in color schemes, I wanted to space them out.

cross

I was pretty pleased with this, mostly because of the composition. I’d never heard of the “Rule of Thirds” before this year, so I gobble up whatever information I can in my perpetual quest for self-improvement.

And speaking of self-improvement…What would interest all of you to read about? I usually post on Wednesdays with a photo on Friday, but after A to Z, my brain is mush. I don’t often talk about my WIPs, because I am terribly unfocused and tend to work on more than one writing venture at a time (the side bar doesn’t even do it justice). I’ve heard this isn’t possible for some people. Would it interest any of you to read about my WIPs?

Oh! And I submitted a feature request for Google+ to be able to add a clickable, better located link to the profile page. I think this might help the next time A to Z rolls around (since I saw many people complaining about not being able to find the commenter’s blog when they left the comment via their Google profile). If you think this would be helpful, please vote for my feature request here. (Edit: I guess my link doesn’t work. >_<)

What do you think the photo? What would you be interested in reading about from me?

I don’t often write about my WIP progress either (for the same reason as you πŸ™‚ ) but I do like to read about what others are doing.

That is a great photo and the comp is really good!

I tried to vote for your idea but it sent me to the “What would you like to ask?” page. And the search there is stinky.

Thank you! Drats about the vote link. I’ll take it down until I figure out how to link it better.

    Love that picture! So awesome.

I think I went back to my blogger profile because so many people complained I was hard to find (so thankful they told me, I mean I never try to find myself, you know?)

I’ll go vote. And sure, I like hearing about what people are working on. πŸ™‚

I know what you mean. It wasn’t until I saw complaints about not being able to find people that I realized you really had to dig to find a link on a Google+ profile. It’d be nice if it was like Twitter and showed it right beneath the profile picture.

I love the photo. Good job!

I like to read about what others are working on. Why not? πŸ™‚

So far, three positive comments about the WIPs… I may do it. πŸ™‚

I never get the shot I want, so this one really impressed me. It would make an excellent cover.

Ha! I’d say you can never talk too much about a WiP, although I think I might. Both on my blog and in real life. My poor family really can’t keep up with me jumping from one story to the other without saying what’s what.

My family is the same way. They just stare at me, all glassy-eyed and vacant…

Love the composition in the shot! I’m really shy about talking about my WIPs but that’s just me. The Google profile is a pain. I don’t even know how to set mine to go back to Blogger but I tried to remember to post my A to Z post on the Google page so at least people could follow the link. I think I remembered once a week. :/

Thank you! I didn’t remember to add a link in the comments at all during A to Z. Pretty sure it frustrated the heck out of some people.

Great pic! Love the green, then the grey filling up the shot. I say yes to WIPs, especially if you have pics to accompany them! =) Like pics you use for inspiration, that sorta thing(if you do that). Also, since Thanmir War is an epic fantasy, maybe you could do a post of the epics nearest and dearest your heart? Just throwing out some thoughts here! =)

Good thoughts. Most of my inspiration stems from music and childhood fancies. Occasionally I sketch, though I’m not too good at it. But I’ll see if I can scrounge up some stuff to share.

Always enjoy your photos — you’ve got skillz. I’d also like to read about your WiPs and process.

Amazing photo. I’m in awe. I love the contrast between the gloomy sky and the cross. As for the feature request, I’ll click over to give it a like. I agree–blogs need to be easier to find on someone’s Google+ profile. I turned the option to show when I comment on other people’s blogs off and I always put a link to the current blog on my profile so it will be the top post listed, but I’ve noticed a lot of people’s blogs are also findable on their About page.

I just barely thought to put a link to my site in my About section. It was listed in the Contributor to section, but I decided to put it in my description, to hopefully make it easier to find.

I love photography. Your photo is incredible. I love photos of old churches and crosses etc. I love to hear about other people’s WIP. I tend to be a bit vague because I don’t want someone to steal my ideas, but I don’t mind posting small doses to whet reader’s appetites.

Now that the first book of my series is out, I don’t have the fear of anyone stealing my ideas. All the rest of my stories spawn from the first. πŸ˜€
