You might be able to tell, but I’m in love with my pond…
When I first mentioned it, Lexa commented about mosquitoes as a concern. My husband’s solution to that is keeping the water moving/agitated. The result is a lovely waterfall.
This featured photo is taken with my camera, not my phone. I played with the shutter speed and focus to get the water smooth in the background. Too fast, and the water doesn’t look so flowy (okay, so that’s not really a word).
The pond is finally in a place where we can call it done for now. I never did get my dragon, but we’re using flagstone to cover the well and waterfall pipe. Someday, though, I will get my dragon. *looks up sculpting guides online*
Do you have any favorite spots to hang out? Do you have anything you absolutely love about where you live?
The waterfall is perfect! Not only does it get rid of the mosquito problem, but waterfalls make such a beautiful and tranquil noise. The pic is wonderful! You nailed that shutter speed thing. Have a great weekend! π
Yes, the sound is wonderful. π
That’s a great shot! Nicely framed.
Thanks!
I love the clarity of the leaves in the foreground. I like to hang out near water-things, rives, lakes, oceans, fountains. It’s so calming.
I agree. Very calming and relaxing. It’s a nice getaway after a busy day.
Tell me you have a hammock out there. Listening to the waterfall, swinging in the breeze… That would be perfect. We live 5 minutes from the beach, so that’s a real blessing. But I’ve always wanted a hammock. And a waterfall.
I wish we had a hammock. But we only have one tree, so there’s nothing to tie the other side to.
It’s beautiful. I love the bubbles in the left corner. How many shots did it take to get this one? (And aren’t you grateful for digital cameras now?)
What a great shot! It looks like a wonderful spot to relax π There’s a wooded trail near my house, next to the river, that I am in love with running–it is so relaxing!
Beauty of a picture you took there, lady! And I think my new favorite place is your pond! lol!
I love it! That would be so relaxing, getting to hang out by your own personal mini-waterfall. And you totally need a dragon, that would be awesome!
I love waterfalls and the tranquillity you have managed to capture in that image is wonderful π There is the feeling of graceful power in the background, but water settling as it moves forward and the stillness of the leaves in the foreground bring it to a gentle focus.
My favourite thing about the place that I live is the view from the back of our house. It looks down over the valley that leads into the village and first thing in the morning we can get mist settling in the bottom making it all mysterious. Here’s a photo I took of it last year.
Awesome picture! For Father’s Day, we bought my husband a kit for his phone that turns it into a better camera…it had three different kinds of lenses, including a zoom lens. Still probably not nearly as good as a real camera!
Wow! Looks like in belongs in a professional magazine. The yellow reflection in the water is so nice, and the detail on the leaves and water. Relaxing is the first word that comes to mind.
The waterfall looks like a great addition to a beautiful pond. I can see why you love it so much.
Professional to a Tee! I love it when a shot comes together. You did it perfectly.
I like sunsets. Or that moment when the sun breaks free from under a heavy sky. The colors are so absolute: absolute Green. Yellow, etc. *sigh*
Wow. I love this. Gorgeous. I’m not envious at all. Even a little. Nope. I have my cluttered house and worn, warped back deck to hang out on while staring at the brown patches in my lawn.
I had a pond once, with a tiny fountain. Nothing beats the sound of flowing water. As to your image, wow! You sure know how to capture the essence of tranquillity. Loved the hanging leaves in the foreground, framed it beautifully.
I love ponds and fountains. I built one a few years ago, and loved it so much I built another one. Yours looks lovely. I can almost hear the water.
