IWSG – Celebrating Creativity

Posted on June 4, 2014March 31, 2016 by Loni Townsend

InsecureWritersSupportGroupToday is the first Wednesday of the month. That means, it’s time for Insecure Writer’s Support Group!

You can find the sign up here. We owe Alex J Cavanaugh a huge thank you for thinking this blog hop up.

Last month, I talked about my worry that no one would read my book. It’s one of those insecurities that’s taken up permanent residence in the back of my mind.

While hopping through April’s A to Z challenge, I met Sarah, or SD Neeve. She is a fun woman who entertains me with her creativity, and never ceases to amaze.

IWACADreamCreateShe’s gone and made a magazine, and imagine my honor when she asked if she could feature Thanmir War! I was bouncing around the room. How could I be insecure when people I admire like my writing?

IWACA’s summer issue is available! Sarah’s put together a gorgeous collection of articles. Check it out here and take a peek inside.

Sarah’s magazine really boosted my confidence and helped me with my insecurities.

Who helps pull you out of your insecurities? Anything recent help boost your spirits?

You should never be insecure about people not reading your book, because they will! Your a great writer and you have a lot of people rooting you on. Like me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t know if I have anyone who pulls me out of my insecurities, but myself. And maybe my mom, another writer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Congrats on the magazine feature! I have the same insecurity all the time. My parents and friends lift me up when the worries get too heavy. Recently, the freelance editor who proofread my book said she loved it. Made my day.

Sometimes I get my biggest uplift when I talk about my book with my 14 y.o. daughter. She makes me feel that anything is possible. Good luck with your book.

Wahoo! That’s rock-tastic! Congrats, Loni. You know who helps stave my insecurity? My kids. And my husband. And my editor. And my writing friends. And my critique partners. And my mom and sister. And my fans. (I HAVE FANS.) They are totally amazing and everyone deserves a support base like this.

Woot! That’s awesome, Loni. Chuck your insecurities. Everybody has them, which makes them passe. Who wants to blend into the crowd? ๐Ÿ˜‰

What an honor to be featured in such a pretty magazine! Congrats. ๐Ÿ™‚

As for what pulls me out of insecurities, this might sound strange but it works for me, especially late at night when there’s no one around to talk me through my lack of confidence. I keep a file of all the nice things people I respect have said about my writing, and when I’m feeling low I pull out a few of those comments to read. That always boosts my spirits.
Of course, these monthly IWSG meetings help a ton too!
