Featured Photo Friday

Posted on July 11, 2014 by Loni Townsend

While on vacation, I learned that my husband actually looks forward to Featured Photo Friday, and was disappointed when I missed a couple weeks. So after lunch that day, I hopped on the Connector and hit downtown to try my hand at urban photography.

I suck at urban photography. But I got a couple of decent shots.

I present Public Parking.

Garage

Downtown is the culture hot spot of Boise. Plus parking is free for the first hour!

Do you like urban photography? What type of photography do you like best?

I like urban photos, especially old buildings and such. Some of the ancient cities around the world, with their crammed together structures of ancient walls, are fascinating. πŸ™‚

I like all kinds of photography! Photography is my other passion. If I wasn’t pursing writing, I would be seriously pursing photography. πŸ™‚

It’s very retro. I love retro. My husband loves that I love old stuff because it’s often cheaper than buying new. And how sweet that your hubs let you know how special your photos are. I think that’s the ultimate in romantic.

Yes, I like any kind of urban art, and photography is right there at the top. Urban areas, with all their colors, population and constant rush, tell a vivid story, one we see here. Where else would we see a large Parking sign with buildings in the background (all representing a busy life), and the serene sky right there?
Thank you for sharing this photo.

That’s funny, it really looks like it should be a sign from a 1950s diner. I love that bulbous, Americana style. Great pic! πŸ™‚

It is a cool shot. Might be interesting at night, too, if the sign lights up. I had an idea once that I was going to take photos of all those old-fashioned painted advertisements on the sides of buildings. There used to be a lot of them in downtown Denver. I liked the vintage style and colors, but never followed through with it. Might have made neat collection. Or not. πŸ˜›

I love that sign! It has a very retro 50s-diner type of look. I love contemporary diners made to look like 50s diners, so it’s right up my alley!

I like the creepy urban explorer pictures, but I’m more one for people. Nothing is more fascinating than people. πŸ™‚ Have a terrific weekend.

Retro usually makes a great phto. Like some urban photos but lean towards rural & natural lines.

But have good memories of Boise, especially as wife’s kids are still there. πŸ˜‰

It’s the kind of sign I’ve seen in some old movies!
Hope your hand is better, Loni.

I like it! And like River, mainly b/c of old buildings. I really like the colors of the sign, that red and blue are bright and happy. I bet it looks neat lit up.

It’s a gorgeous shot! I love urban photography. I haven’t been to Chicago or any big city in awhile. Time to go get some more lovely shots!

I’ve tinkered with taking pics of skyscrapers, but haven’t taken too many I really love yet. Signs are also great for photo inspiration as well.

I like urban pics but can’t take them. That’s all. I really stink at it. I don’t think I have any good shots. But you’ve inspired me to try again. In this age of crop-on-the-spot photography, I’m going to try.

This one is fantastic. You have such an eye for this.
