Featured Photo Friday

Posted on July 18, 2014 by Loni Townsend

Blog wise, I’ve been fairly absent for a week now. I’ve managed to visit some people, but between a birthday party, book-cover photo-shoot, work BBQ, figuring out Lambda expressions and functional programming in Java 8 (aka my job), revising This World Bites, and trying to finish my piece for Elizabeth’s blog challenge…*blink* What was I talking about? Oh, yes. My mental absence.

But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Two of them actually.

This week, I bring you light-based featured photos.

Light Tail

The above picture might not seem like anything more than a doodle line, but it’s my daughter playing with a sparkler, while I play with slow shutter speeds.

I’m finally learning the basics of photography!

Let’s light off some fireworks to celebrate.

Sparkler

Woot! Wasn’t that fun? I hope you didn’t burn yourself. What do you mean the shed’s on fire?

Oh, and if you haven’t seen, Weird Al has a new song out—tailored for lovers of language.

Happy Friday everyone!

Do you like to play with sparklers? Have you seen any good light photography? Do you have a fire extinguisher? What’s wrong with spastic writing?

You’re so funny! I loved the pics, and hope you find time to breathe in between all the projects you’re working on. Now – go put out the fire in the shed!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Now that’s a sparkler!
Saw the Weird Al video a few days ago. Hysterical.

The sparklers lasted for 1.5 minutes! Not one of those dinky ones.

I think fire in the dark is fascinating to watch. Thanks for the shout out! And the video. I’d heard about it, now I have seen it! The cunning linguist reminded me of my dad- one of his favorite phrases!

Thx for sharing the video! I sent it to my friend who is an English teacher, bet she’ll get a kick out of it. And I love pics that have light in them- sparklers, lanterns, Christmas lights. It’s all so pretty!

Cool photo! Love it. Yeah, light is hard to capture like you did. I love the Weird Al video. I shared it last week on FB and only got a couple of likes. I guess most people aren’t grammar freaks like we are!

Gorgeous photo, as always. I loved playing with sparklers when I was little. Magical.
