Underrated Treasures Blogfest

Posted on September 22, 2014 by Loni Townsend

Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting a blog hop! This one is called:

blogbutton2014

Everyone has a favorite movie or band that no one else has ever heard about. For whatever reason, they remain undiscovered and underrated. Now is your chance to tell the world about this obscure treasure!

Today, September 22, post about your favorite unknown –

MOVIE – BAND/ARTIST – TV SHOW – BOOK

Post about one or all four – dealer’s choice!

I chose two songs for music, because they land on opposite sides of the spectrum.

The first is creepy, and a tad malicious.

Digital Daggers – Devil Within

The second is happy and utterly cute.

Meiko – Stuck On You

I figure not many people have heard of them, thus I added them to the list.

For TV Series, I couldn’t help but include Sliders.

sliderdt

I loved this show. Of course, it went downhill after season 3. But instead of dwelling on that, we’ll look at the early seasons with fondness. Sliders is one of those major influences in my life. It created endless “what if” scenarios. Each Earth they landed on was different. On one, Russia conquered the US. On another, penicillin had never been discovered.

And come on, it had John Rhys-Davies in it.

I have no movies or books to add to this list.

Do you like Digital Daggers or Meiko better? Have you seen Sliders? What underrated treasures can you contribute?

Sliders yes! I was obsessed with that show back in the day. Davies was awesome and these are all great choices.

Like the music though completely new to me. I’ve never watched Sliders though I knew of it. Is it on Netflix?

Sliders did slid into the virtual crapper, maybe the world they landed on Fox didn’t cancel shows… lol.

I vaguely remember Sliders. I may have watched some episodes … but if you hadn’t mentioned John Rhys-Davies, I don’t think it would have rung a bell at all.

I love the singer’s voice for Digital Daggers! I gravitate toward darker music, so I’m going to check out more of their songs.

I have heard the song “Stuck on You” and I love it!

Sliders was awesome indeed. Season 5 was just horrible though and some parts of 3 were even bad as they began ripping off every B movie from Dawn of the Dead to Tremors.

Sliders must’ve been on during a time I just wasn’t watching TV. Not that I watch a lot, but I have whole years where I don’t catch any shows.

The first song was a downer for me, though I thought I’d find it interesting because my writer-self dwells in the netherworld. I really enjoyed the Meiko song and video. Blissful, sensual and upbeat, it left me inspired. I was also shown something new about something I hate to do–making meatloaf. She made it seem fun and almost sexy. I remember Sliders too. I always liked its alternate view of the possibilities in life. It was a very creative show.
