Gold Wins!

Posted on October 24, 2014 by Loni Townsend

The poll numbers are in, and the winner is… GOLD!

For the purpose of tallying, I threw out the responses that didn’t give a definite answer.

Tidbits of other advice came in, such as adding something more to make the gold more harmonious. I came up with splotches (a failed attempt at gold flecks, but I’m still working on them). I also changed the color of my name (a few people recommended this), and added a semi-transparent gradient behind the title (Carrie Butler suggested this). Sorry, Milo, I haven’t figured out the right settings to stretch War out to the length of Thanmir just yet. 🙂

This is where I am currently at:

Gold Title - Revised

What do you think? Are the gold splotches a good addition, or do they detract? Any further suggestions?

I think it’s perfect now! Gold was the best choice. Now both title and name pop.

I’d like to see it small. The splotches may not show up. Have you considered gold flecks? What program do you use?

I’ll post a thumbnail later today. I actually started my attempts with gold flecks. The didn’t look natural, so I smudged them.

I use Paint.NET for most of my graphics. If I need a lighter, airbrushed touch, I’ll use gimp. Thanmir War was done all in Paint.NET.

I like the gold accents and having your name in gold to match the title. Looks great!

Can’t say I’m surprised that gold won over green by so much. You’re name certainly looks better now it matches.

I wonder, rather than splotches or flecks, if a deliberate light dappling (like sunlight through leaves) would work.

Sounds like a good idea. I’ll see if I can do that.

Ooh, I like that even better. Changing the color of your name balances it out more. Perfect!

Love it! I agree with some comments above that your name in gold balances the look. Fantastic.

Ooh, I love the gold! It definitely makes the title pop, like the others have said. I really like the gold splotches AND the gradient behind the title (did I use the right word?) 🙂 I think it looks awesome! Great job!
