I am super behind on everything, and I owe a lot of people a lot of visits. *sigh* I’m sorry if I didn’t stop by your blog last month. I plan on making it up this week.
Today is the first Wednesday of the month, and after troubleshooting slowness issues with my blog and trying to purge addons I don’t need, I find myself looking at the most recent WordPress editor with a sense of foreboding. When WordPress updated their editor oh so long ago, I opted to install the “classic editor” plugin. Well, I decided it’d been long enough and bit the bullet to try to come into the modern times. I don’t like it, but que sera, sera. At least it has a code editor view, so I’m not completely floundering, but it’s not my favorite.
Writing wise, I’m as far behind on that as I am visits. I am just past the midpoint in my book, and I’m in a section of chapters where I’m not sure about the flow. It’s also a bunch of fight scenes, which I suck at. I want to just sit and write, but there’s school stuff to prep for, a dog to train, a job to work, and all the other things.
I’m going to skip the question of the month. It’s been over a decade since I focused on publishing, and I’m not really sure what the worst of the worst is out there anymore.
How was your summer? Do you feel you accomplished much? Sorry if I missed your post last month!
About Insecure Writer’s Support Group
You can find the sign up for the IWSG here. We owe Alex J Cavanaugh a huge thank you for thinking this blog hop up.
Why is it that so many “updates” rarely make things better? We had to update something on our TV/streaming stuff, and I can’t stand the new layout, system etc. Ugh!
This is life, eh? Behind but still trying. Here’s some cheese to keep you going.
Even if you’re not physically writing, your mind is still working on those issues 🙂
Good luck training your dog!

I hate it when the software changes. I struggle enough to master all that stuff, and I don’t like change 🙂 I’ve had a pretty productive summer, but it took me about twice as long as I’d hoped to bring my new MS to the point of publication… finally there with a release Aug. 25!
Sorry you’re having WordPress issues. I wish they wouldn’t update things so much. Sometimes I think it really slows things down. Hope August is a good month!
Here’s hoping Blogger doesn’t make one of those wonderful updates. Sounds like a pain. Why fix what’s not broken?
Fight scenes, although I don’t often have them in my books, are always hard for me too. Celebrate the progress you’re making! With all that is on your plate, it’s amazing that you are still plugging away at your writing. I also find the middle is the hardest too, but it will get better.
This summer has been fantastic, and I dreaded it because of the threat of wildfires. So far, we haven’t had any in our area, and for that, I’m so grateful. Last year, an arsonist started four fires, two just below my house in the canyon. Yikes!
You don’t need to worry about catching up. People understand.
Back-to-school is rough if you have littles. I feel for you. Every fall, I feel glad I’m done with that season of my life.
I’m late making visits because I worked last night and fell asleep in my recliner this morning without even taking off my glasses. Then I woke up this afternoon and realized – Crap! It’s IWSG day! That’s the downside of pre-scheduling posts. LOL
I know most people aren’t into astrology, but Mercury is retrograde, and when that happens, communications tend to go awry. It’s a good time to take a breath and redo things. Redoing the blog? Perfect.
Take care. Soon enough you’ll find that the book is flowing again.
My two websites are on Squarespace and updates freak me out!
I dislike the ‘new’ WP editor too, but what can one do? I’m getting used to it. Still, the old one worked better. Why did they decide to change it? There is no improvement, just more limitations than before.
Yeah, sometimes I don’t like updates either. Especially, when the new update isn’t better than what was before. Netflix had its update awhile back and don’t like it at all. Before, how far down the screen you’ve scrolled, you can scroll to the left to exit. Now, they’ve gotten rid of that and you have to scroll all the way back up. So annoying.
Sometimes it’s best to take the time to think about the problem for a while before writing. That’s what I’ve been doing these past few months. I may have figured it out. You’ll figure out your issue too.
Hey, I didn’t post at all last month, so you’re doing better than me! I also haven’t written anything of substance in quite a while, so I’m kinda floundering, too.
I don’t use WordPress much, but even from the small experience I’ve had with it, I liked the old editor, too. I’ve gotten used to the new Blogger editor, but it’s been so many years now I can’t remember if it’s actually better or worse than the original!
Hope the doggy training is going well!
Updates to WordPress frustrate me, too. As soon as I adapt, they make another. Your life is so hectic, non-visits and slow but steady writing are understandable. Stay well and happy.

WordPress keeps saying this a duplicate. Of what?
I’ve never been a fan of the WordPress block editor, but I deal with it. Classic was so much simpler.
My summer was almost entirely nonproductive. I can’t seem to find my groove with writing anymore.
I loved WordPress and at it’s core I still do, but it just became so much work. Not only the WP update, but all the plugins have to as well or there is security issues–and each one can break the site. It turned into a job just to keep it running. Oo, going on a mini-rant. 😬
Any who, I’m behind on everything too.
