Underrated Treasures Blogfest

Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting a blog hop! This one is called:

Everyone has a favorite movie or band that no one else has ever heard about. For whatever reason, they remain undiscovered and underrated. Now is your chance to tell the world about this obscure treasure!

Today, September 22, post about your favorite unknown –

MOVIE – BAND/ARTIST – TV SHOW – BOOK

Post about one or all four – dealer’s choice!

I chose two songs for music, because they land on opposite sides of the spectrum.

The first is creepy, and a tad malicious.

Digital Daggers – Devil Within

The second is happy and utterly cute.

Meiko – Stuck On You

I figure not many people have heard of them, thus I added them to the list.

For TV Series, I couldn’t help but include Sliders.

I loved this show. Of course, it went downhill after season 3. But instead of dwelling on that, we’ll look at the early seasons with fondness. Sliders is one of those major influences in my life. It created endless “what if” scenarios. Each Earth they landed on was different. On one, Russia conquered the US. On another, penicillin had never been discovered.

And come on, it had John Rhys-Davies in it.

I have no movies or books to add to this list.

Do you like Digital Daggers or Meiko better? Have you seen Sliders? What underrated treasures can you contribute?

  2. I remember Sliders but only vaguely. Don’t you just love looking back at those early influences? 🙂

  3. Sliders yes! I was obsessed with that show back in the day. Davies was awesome and these are all great choices.

  4. I’ve heard of Meiko – Stuck On You. Thanks for sharing your picks for the Underrated Treasures Blogfest.

  5. I like the first song! Doesn’t scare me.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!

  6. Like the music though completely new to me. I’ve never watched Sliders though I knew of it. Is it on Netflix?

  7. Oh! I love SLIDERS! But it got weird toward the end. 😉 It’s still one of my favorites.

  8. Eww. That first song image is creepy!
Sliders – I see where you get your inspiration. 🙂

Sliders did slid into the virtual crapper, maybe the world they landed on Fox didn’t cancel shows… lol.

  10. I vaguely remember Sliders. I may have watched some episodes … but if you hadn’t mentioned John Rhys-Davies, I don’t think it would have rung a bell at all.

  11. Sliders!! I loved that one. What a great cast it had.

  12. Oooh, I like the Devil Within = wickedly cool!

    A Treasure Trove of Music

  13. I love the singer’s voice for Digital Daggers! I gravitate toward darker music, so I’m going to check out more of their songs.

I have heard the song “Stuck on You” and I love it!

  14. Sliders was awesome indeed. Season 5 was just horrible though and some parts of 3 were even bad as they began ripping off every B movie from Dawn of the Dead to Tremors.

  15. Sliders must’ve been on during a time I just wasn’t watching TV. Not that I watch a lot, but I have whole years where I don’t catch any shows.

  16. Oh I used to watch Sliders all the time until they started shoving it in different time slots(that’s what I remember). Loved that show

  17. Such a cool idea. Great pics! Hadn’t heard of any of these.

  18. What a great idea for a blogfest! It must have been really hard to choose, but I love your choices! 🙂

  19. Well, loved The Devil Within. Thanks for telling us about this underrated song!

  20. The songs and artists were new to me. I remember the show Sliders. I think I may have watched a few episodes, but I was not a regular viewer.

  23. I have to say I haven’t heard of any of these! I’m old!

  24. Miranda Hardy

I haven’t heard of either. Great choices.

  25. Prefer the music of Digital Daggers, but the video was pretty fun in the Meiko video. Sliders slipped passed me. Have to check it out on reruns. Thanks for the post always great to find music I don’t know.

  26. Heard of Sliders. Unfamiliar with your music choices. Thanks for dropping by.

  27. Both songs are new to me. Though I have heard of Meiko…

  28. Sliders was a fun show, but the ending was way too much of a cliff-hanger. 🙂

  29. You’re right I don’t know the music. Both songs have interesting qualities, though very different. I’d forgotten all about Sliders!

  30. I do remember Sliders! I enjoyed it too. Those different Earth trajectories piqued my adolescent brain. On first hearing, I prefer Digital Daggers to Meiko. More substantial. More to mull over.

  31. LOVED Sliders!! Great show!
I like both the songs too – I knew the 2nd, but the 1st is new to me and I love the haunting sound it brings!

  32. I loved Meiko. I did not know and has been a nice find!

  33. OM Goodness! That Digital Daggers was great. The other was good too, but wow. As far as Sliders goes, I was a hadcore fan right up to the last season. I coulcn’t stick with it and have no idea how it ened. Very cool choices. Thanks for sharing and thanks for stopping by my list.

  34. Shell Flower

You totally make me want to watch Sliders. I did see the movie, but the show sounds better. And thanks for turning me on to some cool new music! You’re the only one to visit my blog that has actually heard of Built to Spill 🙂

  35. Lisa

I listened to both videos and interestingly they sounded like the same singer just singing different songs.

  36. Love Devil Within, and the artwork on the video is pretty cool too!
I remember Sliders and I was so disappointed when they changed it all around. Maybe they’ll bring another version of it back, because I thought it was such a cool concept.

  37. Never heard of either song, nor the show. Guess I don’t get around much anymore. . .but it’s always interesting to know about new material.

  38. Hi Loni. Haven’t heard of your choices, but that’s good. Thanks for sharing.

  39. I have never seen Sliders and I loved the first song.

  40. The first song was a downer for me, though I thought I’d find it interesting because my writer-self dwells in the netherworld. I really enjoyed the Meiko song and video. Blissful, sensual and upbeat, it left me inspired. I was also shown something new about something I hate to do–making meatloaf. She made it seem fun and almost sexy. I remember Sliders too. I always liked its alternate view of the possibilities in life. It was a very creative show.

  41. Okay. That second one is pretty adorable. I love turkey meatballs. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  42. Sliders was a good show. It gave Quantum Leap a run for its money.

  43. That Meiko song is so cute and fun! Really like it. 🙂

  44. This is such a great blogfest (I was going to say ‘awesome’, but I stopped myself. I’m getting better!!)

All of your recs here are unknown to me, which is fantastic (but not awesome). I love the Devil Within now! It needs to go on my running mix. And…I need to watch Sliders. I’m a little embarrassed that I’d never heard of it.

  45. Too cute, I really like Stuck on You. And I’ll have to check out Sliders. That sounds up my alley 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

  46. The Meiko song is so fun and cheery. Thanks for sharing!

  47. Hadn’t heard the Meiko song before but enjoyed it. Thanks so much for sharing it and the move and TV show that I didn’t know about either.

  48. Stuck On You is such a cute song! Thanks for sharing!

  49. I didn’t know any of this, so thanks for the tips.

  50. Love that image for the first video. I think I like the second song better, plus you get a recipe with it! Never heard of the TV show.
