Falling Behind #IWSG

Posted on October 1, 2025 by Loni Townsend

I missed last month. In fact, I almost missed this month’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group too. Life seems to be non-stop lately, with birthdays and school and juggling outings with dog training. I haven’t had a down weekend in a while, and I’m tired.

The dog is huge (75lbs now at 7mos old). We got a DNA test to find out what to expect, and I had to blink at the results. Apparently, I have a husky. Wouldn’t have thought that.

And while I wish I could blame all the kid and dog stuff for me being behind on my writing, I really can’t. My brain isn’t visualizing the scenes very well right now, and that makes it hard to get the words down. With this being October, I should be at the 75% mark, and based on my estimations, I’m about 5 chapters behind my goal. *sigh*

But I’ll get there. Just need a few more Red Bulls.

IWSG Question of the Month – What is the most favorite thing you have written, published or not? And why?

I have to say my favorite at the moment is the short story, Just a Matter of Time in the Full Dark anthology. It was just a fun story. Speaking of, it’s almost that anthology’s birthday!

How has your time management been lately? Have you felt busy? What’s your favorite thing you’ve written?

Hey! Good luck with your lovable and challenging husky. They are wonderful dog, but they have minds of their own. (First-hand experience talking here.) And, yes, Red Bulls are in order.

Good luck with your dog. I hope you get some down time soon. It sounds like you could use some time to relax and have fun.

Time management can be really hard, especially when you have a lot of things going on. I feel like there’s never enough time in the day to do everything I’d like to do. Don’t be too hard on yourself about feeling behind on your writing.

OO, huskies are a handful! Five behind is not bad. Don’t worry, you’ll catch up.

Your dog is a darling on the photo.
Don’t worry about being late on your writing plans. It happens. Life interferes. It doesn’t warranty getting upset about. Just a minor adjustment, that’s all.

Dogs are a lot of work! And he’s adorable. Keep going on the writing goals. Writing is fluid, and it’s always there when you’re able to come back to it.

I can see the pit bull but what happened to the husky?
Chaos can’t last forever, can it?

Sometimes life just gets in the way. Even if it feels like you did have time, it sounds like you didn’t have the energy. You’ll get the book done. It just might not be in the timeframe you had previously expected.

Just keep working on it. You’ll get there.

Your pup looks like one big ball of energy.

You have a lot going on so no wonder it’s hard for your brain to visualize scenes! Don’t worry, you’ll get back to it. 🙂

Welcome to my blog. I post here on the first Wednesday of the month.
